USCIS Issues Incorrect EADs to Haitian TPS Beneficiaries

USCIS mistakenly created several hundred EADs for Haitian TPS beneficiaries with the incorrect expiration date of July 22, 2010.  The correct date should be July 22, 2011.  USCIS will automatically issue corrected EADs to those affected.  They advise you are not required to file an I-765 Application for Employment Authorization.

What TPS for Haitians is and is not

An article in the Christian Science Monitor clarifies exactly what Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is.  I agree with the author — the United States is the leading western hemisphere democracy and in the best shape to assist with the unfolding humanitarian crisis gripping Haiti right now.  TPS is one of many tools at our disposal.  Here’s a link to the article.
